Sometimes DevOps (a collaboration of development and operations optimizations) excludes designers. Other times, it can lead to conflicts among architects, designers, developers, and operations groups.

I gave this talk at WinOps London to a new audience. The discussion was fantastic as it usually is when an “outsider” comes in to talk about why data people need to be part of DevOps, even if we aren’t developers or operations professionals.

I think many DevOps professionals can be scared off by terms like Data Modeling or Data Governance, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Building a culture of data protection is something we should all embrace. My talk is focused on how to have those discussions and how to fit data professionals into DevOps approaches.
